Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in women. One in eight women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. iSono Health is a company launching out of YC W16 class that wants to empower women to take charge of their health through proactive, at-home screenings.

Dr Maryam Ziaei and Dr Shadi Saberi have developed an ultrasound device and app that allows women to self-monitor their breast health at home. The two engineers both had close family and friends who battled breast cancer and wanted to build an affordable solution for early detection. iSonoHealth launched out of Y Combinator’s winter 2016 class.

Using 3D ultrasound technology, iSono Health device tracks changes in breasts without any radiation exposure. Each scan takes 2-3 minutes, and the software compares images month to month to give real-time feedback.
